Dear Families of the Pete Seeger Renaissance Charter School Community,
In our continued effort to bring you timely information about the new charter school, Pete Seeger Renaissance, the school board would like to provide an update on the renovation and preparations taking place as well as important information on our opening date. As we have noted before, a number of construction milestones must be met to ensure that the facility at 214 Eagle Dr. is ready for students. Following a meeting with our board on July 20th, it became clear that these milestones would not be met until early 2017. As a result, the school opening has been postponed until the fall of 2017.
While this delay in opening Pete Seeger Renaissance Charter School means that its enrolled students will have the choice to remain in their present districts or make other educational choices, families will be placed on a wait list and contacted about enrollment in the spring of 2017. If you do not want to be contacted during our spring enrollment drive, please e-mail our board chair Dr. Eric Ringsred at the following address: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We share your disappointment and frustration that the school is delaying opening until 2017. It has been an extremely difficult decision for all concerned and we appreciate your continued understanding as we await the school’s completion. Contractors and others will be working diligently in the next weeks and months to complete the roof repair, reconfigure interior wall to create ideal classrooms, install exterior windows and doors to increase natural lighting, lay new modern flooring and fill the classrooms with Montessori equipment. It is our hope for all community members that we will be able to give regular updates on our progress and provide an opportunity to view the completed renovation in the near future.
We would like to commend all those who have shared their dreams and desires of educational choice with us. We are also thankful for the efforts of our staff members, contractors, and stakeholders who continue to work toward a successful opening of PSRCS in 2017.
Dr. Eric Ringsred, Board Chair
